No — a battery and charger are sold separately. The Slash 4X4 VXL HD accepts 2S or 3S LiPo batteries or 6–9 cell NiMH packs. The Traxxas EZ-Peak Plus (PN 2970) handles all of these. You'll also need 4 AA alkaline batteries for the transmitter.

What batteries fit this truck?

The TQi receiver has integrated telemetry ports, but the Traxxas Link Wireless Module (PN 6511, $34.95) is sold separately on this model. Once added, the free Traxxas Link app gives you real-time speed, voltage, RPM, and temperature data. Optional RPM and temperature sensors (PN 6520, 6521) are also available.

What's the difference between this and the Slash 4X4 VXL Ultimate?

Both use the VXL-3s power system, but the Ultimate adds factory-installed aluminum hop-up parts (C-hubs, steering blocks, hub carriers), GTR shocks with TiN-coated shafts, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires in S1 race compound, and the Traxxas Link Wireless Module included. The VXL HD is the capable, ready-to-bash baseline; the Ultimate is the factory-upgraded version for drivers who want aluminum upgrades from day one.
