The Traxxas DCB M41 is a 40-inch brushless catamaran based on Dave’s Custom Boats’ legendary M41 Widebody race hull—one of the most recognizable shapes in full-scale offshore powerboat racing. At 1/10 scale and 40.6 inches from bow to stern, this thing is not small. It’s driven by the Velineon 540XL brushless motor and VXL-6s marine ESC, and with two 3S LiPo packs on board it’s rated at 50+ mph on the water.
It’s also a Skill Level 2—genuinely accessible for drivers who are new to RC boats, because the hull design and TSM do a lot of the work. The catamaran hull is inherently stable at speed, and the VXL-6s Training Mode limits throttle and reverse to help new drivers get comfortable before running it wide open. If you’ve wanted to get into RC boating but weren’t sure where to start, this is one of the most capable entry points Traxxas makes.
LiPo Batteries
The M41 requires two LiPo batteries wired in series—either two 2S packs or two 3S packs. Running two 2S packs gives you an effective 4S system; two 3S packs gives you 6S. More cells means more speed. Batteries are not included and must be purchased separately.
LiPo Charger
A LiPo-compatible balance charger is required. Traxxas recommends the EZ-Peak Dual (2972)—a dual-output 3S charger that lets you charge both packs simultaneously.
AA Alkaline Batteries
Four AA alkaline batteries for the TQi transmitter.
The DCB M41 is a 1/10-scale replica of the full-size M41 Widebody offshore race catamaran. At 40.6 inches long it’s a substantial boat—about the length of a kayak paddle. Plan your water accordingly: this hull is designed for open water, not a backyard pond.

40-Inch DCB M41 Catamaran Hull
A replica of Dave’s Custom Boats M41 Widebody, built from lightweight vacu-formed ABS with a reinforced transom. The catamaran hull form provides exceptional high-speed stability—two sponsons carry the hull above the water at speed, reducing drag and keeping the boat planted. The highly detailed cockpit, pre-painted graphics, and easy-access hatch with body clip lanyard round out a hull that looks as good sitting on the stand as it does on the water. Molded foam in the bow adds buoyancy and security.
The quick-release power module integrates the power system, waterproof electronics, and stuffing tube into a single removable assembly—making maintenance and battery swaps straightforward.
Velineon 540XL Brushless Motor
The 540XL is a marine-specific brushless motor built for water. At 1800 Kv it’s tuned for the dual-LiPo voltage range the M41 runs, and the high-flow silicone water cooling jacket pulls heat away continuously during operation. Ultra high-temperature sintered neodymium magnets handle the thermal demands of sustained high-speed runs. 5 mm output shaft, Traxxas 5.5 mm bullet connectors.
VXL-6s Marine ESC
The VXL-6s is a purpose-built marine ESC with integrated water cooling and a waterproof design. It supports the M41’s dual-pack LiPo configuration—4S (2×2S) through 6S (2×3S)—and includes three drive profiles to match your skill level and conditions:
Built-in two-stage low-voltage detection protects your LiPo packs, and locked rotor protection guards the motor.
TQi 2.4 GHz Radio System
A 2-channel TQi transmitter with adjustable steering and throttle sensitivity and endpoints, paired with a 5-channel micro receiver (6533) in a patented waterproof receiver box. The system stores and loads settings for up to 30 Traxxas Link-enabled models. The optional Traxxas Link Wireless Module (6511) can be added separately to unlock full Traxxas Link app telemetry functionality—it is not included with this model.
Traxxas Stability Management (TSM)
TSM provides steering correction during hard acceleration to keep the hull tracking straight—particularly useful on choppy water or during aggressive throttle inputs. Adjustable from off to 100% from the transmitter, and never dulls throttle response.
Driveline
Quick-release flex cable, blue-anodized aluminum drive strut, and a 2-blade composite prop (42 mm × 59 mm) with an adjustable aluminum outdrive.
Steering
Waterproof digital 2056 servo, blue-anodized aluminum rudder, and stainless steel trim tabs and turn fins.
Skill Level 2—meaning this boat is genuinely appropriate for drivers who are new to RC boating, not just experienced ones looking for a premium hull. The catamaran platform is stable, Training Mode takes the edge off the throttle while you learn, and the VXL-6s gives you room to grow into the boat’s full performance envelope as your confidence builds. That said, 50+ mph on water is a real number—this isn’t a beginner toy. Give yourself open water and room to learn.
Already experienced with RC boats? The M41 is a legitimate performance platform. Two 3S packs, a Velineon brushless system, and a race-proven hull shape means there’s real performance here for drivers who know what to do with it.

Yes—the DCB M41 is fully assembled and Ready-To-Race. You’ll need two LiPo battery packs (2S or 3S, two required) and four AA batteries for the transmitter. A LiPo-compatible balance charger is also required—not included.
The M41 runs two LiPo packs wired in series. You can run two 2S packs (4S combined) for moderate performance, or two 3S packs (6S combined) for 50+ mph top speed. Single 4S or 6S batteries are not compatible—the M41 requires two separate packs. Consult your battery compartment and manual to confirm pack dimensions before ordering.
Any LiPo-compatible balance charger will work. Traxxas recommends the EZ-Peak Dual (2972), which has two output channels so you can charge both packs at the same time.
The TQi radio system is compatible with the Traxxas Link app, but the required Wireless Module (6511) is sold separately and not included with this model. Add the 6511 to unlock live telemetry in the free Traxxas Link app (iOS and Android).
Overall length is 40.6 inches—about the length of a kayak paddle. Plan for open water; this hull is designed to run fast in open conditions, not in small ponds or tight spaces.
