About This Tool

Most hobby knives are a blade in a metal tube, and the problems are always the same: the blade works loose, it rolls off the desk, and it lands point down. This one was designed around those three failures.

The blade sits in a fixed single-slot barrel, so it goes in aligned and stays aligned. The changing thread is recessed into the handle, which stops the blade loosening as you work. The handle is sculpted hard plastic with a ribbed shroud behind the blade, so you can put downward pressure on a cut with your finger somewhere sensible. It is shaped not to roll, and it is back-weighted, so if it does go off the edge it tends to land handle first. A blade cap covers it between sessions.
