About This Book

Cado Ezechiar took the Soulblight curse to save a kingdom and failed anyway. The kingdom fell to Chaos, his people with it, and he has outlived every memory of the age that made him. What he has left is a code he refuses to break and the bound spirits of the people he could not save, who travel with him and are not always kind about it.

He is hunting the Sorcerer of Change who ruined him. That hunt leads him to Aventhis, a free city with its own arrangements, where he finds himself a small piece in schemes run by powers who regard the city's whole population as an acceptable loss.

The tension is the interesting part. Cado needs blood to keep going, he refuses to take it dishonourably, and vengeance keeps offering him a shortcut. He is a vampire written as a knight who is running out of ways to stay one.

Who It's For

Soulblight Gravelords players, and anyone who prefers their Age of Sigmar fiction focused on a person rather than an army. This is closer to a dark fantasy adventure than to a battle novel: one protagonist, a city full of politics, and a long-running grudge.

It is also a good entry point for the Mortal Realms generally. Cado is an outsider everywhere he goes, so the setting gets explained to him, which means it gets explained to you.
