The 3974 is the wide-ratio 2-speed gear set for Traxxas nitro vehicles equipped with a 2-speed transmission — a 26-tooth first speed gear and 13-tooth input gear. Wide-ratio gearing increases the RPM spread between first and second gear for a bigger jump in top speed when the transmission shifts up. This is the stock gearing configuration on many Traxxas trucks.
