About This Book

Can I still use this book?

The Core Rules, Advanced Rules, and battleplans in it are usable in any game you and your opponent agree on. The seasonal scoring is a different matter: Matched Play seasons run about a year, and organised events use whichever General's Handbook is current at the time. As of this writing that is the 2026-2027 edition. Warhammer Community is the place to check where the season stands today.

Is this the same as a battletome?

No. A battletome covers one faction's rules and background. The General's Handbook is faction-agnostic and covers how balanced games are set up and scored.
